Preparing For Your First Draft Night

Complete the following checklist before launching your DRAFTNIGHT.tv room.

Collect your league information

Before creating the league, gather:

  • League name
  • League logo, when applicable
  • Number of teams
  • Team names
  • Preferred team colors
  • Team logos, when applicable
  • Roster settings
  • Draft order
  • Pick timer
  • Keeper assignments and costs, when applicable

For a remote draft, also confirm which voice or video platform the league will use.

Review the league settings

Open the league from your dashboard and verify:

  • The correct league format is selected.
  • The roster matches your fantasy league.
  • Every team is included.
  • Team names and logos are assigned correctly.
  • The draft format and pick order are correct.
  • Keeper assignments are accurate.
  • Every round-cost keeper is attached to a pick that the team owns.
  • The pick timer is appropriate for your league.

Keeper and draft-order mistakes should be corrected before the draft room is launched.

Prepare the TV computer

For the best experience:

  • Use a computer with a current modern browser.
  • Connect the computer to the TV or projector before launching the room via an HDMI cable.
  • Connect the computer to power.
  • Disable automatic sleep during the draft.
  • Confirm that the correct audio output is selected.
  • Close unnecessary programs and browser tabs.
  • Use a stable internet connection.

A wired HDMI connection is generally more reliable than wireless screen casting.

Test the screen layout

Open DRAFTNIGHT.tv on the display computer and confirm that:

  • The browser fits correctly on the TV.
  • The browser can enter full-screen mode.
  • Text is readable from across the room.
  • Sound plays through the intended speakers.

Using the television as an extended display is normally preferable to duplicating the laptop screen.

Prepare team owners

Ask each owner to:

  • Charge their phone.
  • Use a supported mobile browser.
  • Connect to a reliable network.
  • Know which team they should claim.
  • Keep the controller page open during the draft.

Team owners do not need to create DRAFTNIGHT.tv accounts.

Launch shortly before the scheduled start

Launch the room early enough to let everyone join and resolve connection problems, but do not start the draft until:

  • Every team has been claimed.
  • The commissioner has been assigned.
  • The TV and audio are working.
  • Every owner confirms that their phone controller is ready.
