Supported League Formats
DRAFTNIGHT.tv supports three league formats: Re-Draft, Keeper, and Rookie Only.
The format controls which players are available and how existing players are handled.
Re-Draft
Choose Re-Draft when every roster starts empty and the entire eligible player pool is available.
This is the correct format for most traditional annual fantasy football drafts.
Use Re-Draft for:
- Standard seasonal leagues
- Best-ball style drafts
- A dynasty startup draft in which every player is available
- Any draft that does not begin with assigned keepers
The number of roster spots determines the default number of draft rounds.
Keeper
Choose Keeper when teams retain one or more players before the live draft.
During setup, each keeper is assigned to the correct fantasy team. Keeper players are removed from the available player pool and count toward the team’s roster.
DRAFTNIGHT.tv supports:
- No Round Cost: Every team keeps the same number of players, and the live draft is shortened.
- Round Cost: Each keeper automatically occupies one of the team’s picks in a selected round.
Use Keeper when your league carries only part of each roster from one season to the next.
See the dedicated keeper documentation before configuring keeper costs.
Rookie Only
Choose Rookie Only when only rookie players should be available.
This format is intended primarily for rookie drafts in established dynasty leagues. Instead of creating a full roster configuration, you select the number of rookie draft rounds.
Use Rookie Only for:
- Annual dynasty rookie drafts
- Supplemental rookie-only drafts
- Other drafts that should exclude veteran players
Which format should a dynasty league use?
DRAFTNIGHT.tv does not require a separate format for a dynasty startup draft.
Use:
- Re-Draft for the initial startup draft, when all players are available.
- Rookie Only for later annual rookie drafts.
- Keeper only when you need to assign a limited number of retained players before the draft.
Can the format be changed later?
The format can be edited while the league remains unlocked and does not have an active draft room.
Changing the format may reset or invalidate related settings, including keeper assignments, roster configuration, and draft rounds. Review the entire league after changing its format.
