Configure Your Draft Settings

Draft Settings control the pick order, draft length, timer, and room presentation.

Choose the draft format

Snake

The first-round order reverses in the next round.

For example:

  • Round 1: 1, 2, 3, 4
  • Round 2: 4, 3, 2, 1
  • Round 3: 1, 2, 3, 4

Choose Snake for most traditional fantasy drafts.

Linear

The same order repeats in every round.

For example:

  • Round 1: 1, 2, 3, 4
  • Round 2: 1, 2, 3, 4
  • Round 3: 1, 2, 3, 4

Linear drafts are commonly used for rookie drafts.

Custom

Custom mode allows you to assign the owner of every individual pick.

Use Custom when the league has:

  • Traded draft picks
  • Extra picks
  • Missing picks
  • Different pick ownership by round
  • Any order that cannot be represented by a standard snake or linear draft

Each custom round must contain one valid pick assignment for every pick position.

Set the number of rounds

Draft rounds default to the number created by the league’s roster configuration.

Review the round count carefully before launching.

Rookie-only leagues use the number of rounds selected in League Settings. Keeper rules may also affect how many selections occur live.

Choose the pick timer

Select how long each team receives to make a selection.

The timer must be at least 15 seconds.

Choose a longer timer for casual leagues or owners who may be drafting remotely. Choose a shorter timer only when participants are familiar with the player pool and draft controls.

When the clock expires, DRAFTNIGHT.tv automatically selects a best-available eligible player.

Configure the pick order

For Snake and Linear drafts, arrange the saved team order.

For Custom drafts, navigate through the rounds and assign each individual pick to its owner.

Keeper leagues using round costs are validated against the final pick ownership. A team cannot use a keeper cost in a round where it does not own an available pick.

Configure the soundboard

The Soundboard Settings step lets you customize the reactions available on each phone.

You may configure reaction labels, images or emojis, and sounds. The soundboard can also be disabled.

Configure room audio

Other Settings include:

  • Background music
  • Pick sound effects
  • A custom uploaded pick sound

These settings can also be changed by the commissioner during an active draft.

Review before creating the league

Confirm the draft format, rounds, timer, and order before selecting Create League.

Settings can be edited from the dashboard as long as no active room exists and the draft has not been completed.
