Setting Up Your Draft Day Display

The TV display is the shared centerpiece of the DRAFTNIGHT.tv experience.

You can use a television, projector, large monitor, or another shared display with a modern web browser.

For the most reliable experience, use:

  • A laptop or desktop computer
  • A wired HDMI connection
  • A current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox
  • A stable internet connection
  • External power for the computer
  • TV speakers or connected room speakers

A smart TV browser may work, but using a connected computer generally provides better performance and easier room control.

Connect the display

  1. Connect the computer to the television or projector.
  2. Select the correct input on the display.
  3. Configure the television as an extended display.
  4. Move the DRAFTNIGHT.tv browser window onto the television.
  5. Enter browser full-screen mode.

Using an extended desktop allows the host to keep other windows on the laptop without showing them on the TV.

Check the audio

Before participants join:

  • Confirm the TV or speaker system is selected as the computer’s audio output.
  • Play a sound from the browser.
  • Set the room volume.
  • Confirm that browser audio is not muted.

A browser may require an initial click before it allows music to play. Interacting with the lobby or start control normally satisfies this requirement.

Prevent interruptions

Before starting:

  • Disable screen sleep.
  • Disable battery-saving mode.
  • Connect the computer to power.
  • Close games and graphics-heavy applications.
  • Close unnecessary browser tabs.
  • Pause operating-system updates.
  • Disable notifications that could appear on the TV.

Wireless casting

Wireless casting can introduce delay, compression, or inconsistent frame rates during the draft intro sequence, but performance during the live draft is generally uneffected.

When casting is necessary, test the complete introduction and pick animations before draft night. Use wired HDMI when the wireless result is unstable.
